INVEST IN A FIRE PIT

A fire pit, while perfect for those summer nights, provides a comforting warmth during fall days and a great place to warm up with friends and family on the cooler evenings. You can still roast marshmallows like you do in July and August, but we’d also recommend grabbing a hot drink to accompany it. From your local hardware store to online, there are many options you can choose from, so you’ll easily be able to select the style that best suits your space. Choose from three options, gas, electric and wood-burning. While the low maintenance of gas and electric has made them incredibly popular, the traditional wood-burning fire pit remains just as favourable.

BRING OUT THE BLANKETS

Who doesn’t like to cozy up with a blanket on a cold day? More than just something cozy for the fall season, a blanket is the ultimate outdoor space accessory. Choosing accenting materials and colours to your deck or patio area can take your space to the next level. You can also buy or build storage options for your outdoor blankets at a reasonable price, so you can protect them from frost and easily have them ready on colder nights.

PUT UP A PRIVACY WALL

Shut out a crisp fall breeze or a rainy day drizzle by installing a privacy wall. Our louver shutter and blinds system allows you to control the elements by simply adjusting the angle of the slats. While perfect for traditional uses such as privacy walls, they work beautifully in a wide variety of settings (hot tubs enclosures, pergola roofs, etc.). Get creative with board materials, either match your space or use a complimenting material to your decking and rails!

No matter what you choose, it’s a perfect project to complete on any weekend. Check out our how to video to get started.

HOW ABOUT A HOT TUB?

If you’re really looking to vamp up your outdoor space on the colder days and nights, look into a hot tub. If you purchase a hot tub, you’re purchasing year-round relaxation. There are so many options available from sizes to styles, so finding one that works for you and your space is easy. If you want the experience of a hot tub without the price tag, look into inflatable options that can withstand winter temperatures. If you’re looking for a little more luxury, you’ll find that the options open up even more. Do research, decide what you want out of your hot tub, and then make the call. It’s perfect to add to your space now, but you’ll also be able to easily add landscaping and other features to incorporate it into your space in the coming years too.

PICK UP A PATIO HEATER

Buying a patio heater is another way you can keep you and your family toasty and warm during those brisk fall days. They’re relatively inexpensive for what they provide and make the experience of being outside during the colder months much more enjoyable. This may be a better option for you compared to a fire pit as you have more flexibility with where you place it in your space, as well as having maintenance-free electric options too.

LIGHTING IS EVERYTHING

With the sun setting a bit earlier every day, a well-lit space makes for one that’ll be enjoyable at all hours. Invest in solar lights you can place around your yard or pick up some string lighting to make spending time in your space after dark even more enjoyable. We suggest opting for plastic bulbs and LED lights when possible so it is easier to maintain and last longer in your space.

If you have a covered area, or are planning to build one apart of your future build, we also suggest checking out some unique pendant style lighting. It brings the comfort of the indoors onto your patio and really elevates your space.

We hope these tips have given you a bit of inspiration to get started on building your perfect fall space. Whether you grab a blanket or a hot tub, investing in your space is one of the best decisions you can make.
